"Love Come Down" by Dirty Money

I was a little...hmm...crunk after I heard the song, but all I can say is DOPENESS. With this new group, Diddy brings dopeness back: Great vocals...good rhymes...and a CRAZZZZYYYYYYYY beat. Like if you don't like THIS song...go jump off a cliff. And if this song isn't #1, i'm moving to Canada(not really). Song is called "Love Come Down" and features Diddy, Dawn formerly of Danity Kane & Kaleena Harper, a songwriter. Get on this Last Train to Paris now...cause if you get left, well then you're just S.O.L.

Day 26 New Video "So Good"

Again, and I may be biased...but this vid is dope. Basic concept, awesome results. It really lets you focus on the experience and the music and not the fancy graphics that some artist do *cough* Dorrough & GS Boys. I like the vid...and yes, I did get hot after a couple of times of watching it...this vid is addictive...and I likey. Go DAY 26!!!

BTW, they will be co-headlining a tour with Trey Songz. Stay tuned for more updates.

Chris Brown Apologizes to Fans & Rihanna

After months of silence from both parties, Chris Brown gives his first public statement, a heartfelt apology to both Rihanna and fans. In short, he basically says he's sorry and he's trying to live right. I believe him, I just wish he hadn't used a teleprompter...but that's just me being picky. With this, I think the world should really move on and go back to supporting both artists based on their talent. Everyone deserves a second chance? Right? What are your opinions?

Bruno...oh Bruno.

So, like the film/tv junkie that I am slowly becoming, I went out and caught the 12 am showing of Bruno...you know, so you guys could know if its worth the $10 movie ticket. And well, it is!!! GO SEE BRUNO!!! When I say that you will be on the floor [or reclining back in the seat] from laughing so hard...you will. Movie is crazy. But I will warn you, leave your values/morals at home. Bruno is CRAZY. Expect the unexpected. You will be slightly offended by something during the movie. Let it roll off and enjoy the humor of it. It's all in good spirits, well maybe not. This movie is SO not PC. Just to warn you. I will say that the end, before the credits rolled, had me a little worried. Won't go into it, it just had me worried. But the movie is funny. Lots of laughs. I do recommend it to you, but like I said...come into the movie taking it[pause, wrong choice of words] as comedy. And guys...guys guys guys...I'm warning YOU...be ready for anything. I will just say this...Family Guy prepared us VERY WELL for what Bruno had to offer. Very well [see post on Family Guy.]

Go See Bruno!!!

The State of the Modern Day Sitcom...What Happened to the Good Ones?

Tonight,as I was flipping through the channels, I stumbled, as I always do, on Nick at Night. Tonight was different because I asked myself why I always could watch reruns of shows from the 80s-90s but never really wanted to watch reruns[or first runs at that] of the shows that are on the air today. Newton Minnow, former FCC Chair in 1961 said that television was becoming a "vast wasteland"...that was in 1961. In my opinion, from the programming they've shown us in my TV history classes, I would say that the programming was pretty good, at least compared to what we have today. When I look at shows like Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, True Jackson: VP, and The Replacements and compare them to shows like Sister, Sister, Smart Guy, The Powerpuff Girls, Fresh Prince, Roseanne, The Nanny, and Home Improvement, I can see a dramatic shift in the quality of programming. I've always wondered what was missing from this new generation of programming. Then today it dawned on me: programming today has no substance. When you look at shows like Sister, Sister, Smart Guy, Roseanne, and Home Improvement, they all had some deeper social relevance that you could use in your every day life to survive. Shows now such as Hannah Montana don't have that same substance, just a lot of fluff. Sure they're entertaining, but what do they help us with once we turn off the tv? Sitcoms from the 80s-90s would cover EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. From social issues to confronting moral issues. These shows gave our nation a backbone. Now that television is concerned about "conserving our children" and designating what is appropiate, the shows don't do any of those things and we are left with programming that is meant to help a company's profit, creating materialistic children in the process, children who will grow up without knowing how to survive. Its time that we bring back the quality programming and influence our new generation the right way.

Who's Who Monday: She's a Diva--> Dawn Richard & Her New Swagg

We all remember that epic season finale of Making the Band back in April. And I'm sure you all are curious as to what the girls of Danity Kane have been doing. Well, I know one that is on a whole new swagg...Dawn Richard.

Recently, Dawn has been making a name for herself in the music industry. She has been writing for artist such as Cassie and Day 26, and she is currently working on Diddy's new album "Last Train to Paris". She is also working on her comic book, Danity Kane Comics and is scheduled to have the second issue out in December. Recently, she was featured in Honey Magazine where she gives an interview about her new attitude and new direction in life. In the article, she also give GREAT advice about how to make it in your craft. I'd say that Dawn is really making a name for herself. Excited to see what the future holds for her. Check out the interview at www.honeymag.com

But Wait...there's more. Last week some SIZZLING photos of Dawn and other half Que were released. The photos were taking by the amazing D.Blanks. Check them out!!!

Family Guy Sets Stage for "Bruno" release...

I'm sure you guys are well aware of Bruno's release this friday in theatres...so I'm not surprised that Family Guy has come out with an episode aimed at setting the mood for the feature...check it out:

The episode is VERY FUNNY. But I must say, I wasn't sure at the end if I should feel disturbed or just brush it off. Nevertheless, Family Guy is true to there history of not being politically correct, which is what I'm hearing about the new Bruno movie. If Bruno is anything like this ep. of Family Guy, we're in for an INTERESTING weekend.

Palin TV? WTF?

I told you Palin's resignation would MAKE her entertainment news. And now, that is a possibility. Supposedly, talks are in the works for Palin to get her own talk show [prob. Fox News]. Don't rule out the possibility of her getting her own daytime talk show though. Anything is possible when you're the former repub. VP candidate. I'll be honest, I'd watch a Palin talk show for the first 4 minutes...might learn something. Although, if she does ink a TV deal, is this the kind of "change" she's talking about? Hope not. We all know TV isn't necessarily the best platform for changing the world. But I digress...def. will keep you guys updated.

Chris Brown "Getting Jiggy w/ it" at Diddy's White Party

So remember how I told you Chris Brown made an appearance at Diddy's White Party this weekend? Well here's a vid of him moving to the beat...

Yea, he SO should have done a tribute at the B.E.T. Awards.

Weekend Review: Oh what a week...

So let's recap what's happened this past week. On Monday we reminisced about whether the B.E.T. Awards were what we had expected. On Tuesday we heard the first of Jeremih's debut album [awesome!]On Wednesday, we began to get more info on the possibility of B.E.T. picking up The Game, which was canceled on the CW. On Thursday, we saw what may be the worst music vid of '09...ok not really. But close. Def. close. Friday we learned that Sarah Palin was quitting her day job...yep. And on Saturday we sat in on Diddy & Ashton's "White Party". So yea. It was quite a week.

Some things that I didn't necessarily touch on are:

  1. B.E.T. apologizes for the performance with Lil' Wayne & Drake. Yea- don't know why you would think letting young girls perform on stage while your singing "I wish I could **** every girl in the world" would be ok. But I'm just sayin'.
  2. Lil' Wayne has canceled his tours in Europe because he has gotten ill. That's really a shame. Hope he's ok. I had the pleasure of going to one of his concerts last year. CRAZY. His concerts in the U.S. are still scheduled to happen.
  3. Did I mention that Chris Brown was spotted at Diddy's "White Party"? Saw him myself and he was looking "Casket SHARP".[<--10 bucks to whoever gets what movie I'm referring to.] Glad to see Chris making a comeback on the social scene. The MJ tribute song was DOPE.
  4. "Ice Age 3" has tied Transformers 2 at the Box Office. Both pulled in 42 mil. But come on, Transformers 2 HAS been out awhile.
Ok...enough from me. I leave you with a pic from Diddy & Ashton's white party.

Love seeing DQue together...gives the world hope. Until tomorrow!!!

Happy 4th!!! The "White Party"

Hey "The White Party", which is hosted by Diddy is going on today... here's the live feed!

"Transformers 2"...a week in, still doing MAJOR box office damage

Considering the current state of the economy, Transformers 2 is doing some serious damage at the box office. Since its release, which was last Wednesday mind you, Transformers 2 has raked in about $251 MILLION dollars world wide. That's incredible. Right now it just means that they've recouped the production costs of making the movie, which was estimated to be between $200 and $300 million dollars. Yes, people still spend that on production. The first Transformers movie only had a budget of $150 million dollars, which is pretty low for a production with that many special effects. Nevertheless, Transformers 2 is holding on to the top spot strong, pulling in 11.1 million dollars Thursday alone.
If you have been living under a rock and haven't seen the movie, scramble up that last 10 bucks you have and go see it. The movie is PSYCHO. Not crazy, PSYCHO. Strangely, they were able to sneak some quality laughs in, which makes the movie a trillion times better than the first. And the visuals. *sighs* The visuals are simply A-MAZE-ING. If nothing else, you walk out of the theatre feeling as though you've been on a journey, heck, a vacation. The only thing I warn you about concerning the movie is that it is SUPER long. 2hrs and like 40 min. But it is OH SO GOOD. I am seriously considering seeing it again. Considering.

Oh Sarah...we never get enough of you-->

Apparently, Sarah Palin is stepping down as Governor of Alaska. She's supposed to be leaving at the end of the month. She claims that she doesn't want to be a "lame-duck" Governor and doesn't want to waste tax payers dollars. Yea. Not going to comment on the what I think, but I do wonder what her reasons are for abruptly deciding to resign. She also "says" she wants to affect change outside of the government. But I have to wonder, wouldn't the best way to affect change be IN the government? I'm curious. Something's up. I smell a scandal. Why would you give your press conference on the eve of the 4th of July weekend? I know this is an entertainment blog, but with Palin resigning, this BECOMES entertainment news. She supposedly has a book deal already. Hmm. Interesting. I'll def. keep you guys updated.

TV Time Friday *tear* Our Little Joey is Growing Up...Katie Holmes--> "What's going on right now?"

Not sure if you've heard, but Katie Holmes is returning to the small screen. No, its not a rebirth of the hit teen drama "Dawson's Creek". Its not even on the same network. Ya'll ready for this one? Katie Holmes is supposedly going to perform on the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. Crazy right? Well before you jump to conclusions, Katie supposedly isn't to bad on the dance floor. I had heard that she was doing some work on Broadway, and come on, our Joey WOULD always sneak random dancing moments in all of her films--> [see Mad Money for reference]. But I digress. Katie's appearance on the show comes from her current "charity" project that helps talented people realize their dreams of becoming professional dancers. The program is called "Dizzy Feet". She's supposedly slated to perform to Judy Garland's "Get Happy". Not sure as to which style she'll be performing in, but will def. let you guys know. Regardless, this should be VERY interesting to see...but I can't help but wonder, what does Tom think? This episode of So You Think You Can Dance is slated to air July 23rd at 8pm cst. on Fox.

Movies to Watch Out For Thursday

Thursdays are the day that we share movies that are interesting and that you should considere viewing. First up, My Sister's Keeper.

This movie is the story of two sisters, one of whom is fighting a battle with leukemia, and the other who was conceived via in vitro, who has the power to save her sister by donating a kidney. Anna, the girl who was conceived via in vitro files for "medical emancipation" which creates a host of familial issues.--> Def. a tear jerker.

I think the most interesting part of this movie is that Cameron Diaz [Charlie's Angels, former gf to Justin Timberlake] is playing the mother in this movie. I'm interested to see how she handles a more dramatic role. Could this be the start of a new genre for Cameron? A start that could place her in talks for Oscar contention? Only time can tell. Not to sure if I'll actually go to see the movie, but I want to. And that's always a good sign.

For more on the movie, follow the link:

Drake's new vid for "Best I Ever Had"

Ok...before I start, I just wanna make it clear that I actually like Drake, and I like his song...but-->

This vid. Ok. I love how he had a concept with it. A lot of rap vids don't. BUT [and there was a whole lot of that] I don't think that the vid does the song justice. The song, before the vid, was supposed to mean that there was that one "girl", in his case that was the one for him...I think that Drake plays to much on his acting skills in this vid and it ruins the song for me...not to mention, to much cleavage. Those girls looked like they were gonna break a chest muscle. I will say this...the vid had great production value. I just feel as though Drake should have went for a deeper concept than a basketball team. The vid was funny, but it kinda ruins the song for me, not to mention...it is kind of degrading, as usual. I think people liked Drake because they thought he was going to be different, bring a different kind of rap into the equation. This is just more of the same. What do you guys think?

BET tries to save The Game

For those of you who watch the CW, you have heard that they canceled two shows due to "low ratings" : The Game and Everybody Hates Chris. While the status of Everybody Hates Chris is unknown, the cast, crew, writers, producers, and fans of The Game are desperately trying to get the fourth season of The Game on BET. This would be a good thing for BET, seeing as though they really don't have any scripted programming, and the "reality tv" that they currently have isn't the best of quality. This move would definately be a ratings boost for them as well, and could open the door for more programming. Ever since the season finale of The Game, fans and cast & crew alike have been rallying on twitter and on the blogs to try to get BET to pick the show up. Now as it seems, BET is fighting to get the license to air the fourth season. BET already has the license to air the reruns. The hardest part of this process will be to negotiate the licensing fees and contracts with CBS Paramount, the company who currently owns The Game. Hopefully, all parties will come to some sort of agreement.

I'll keep you updated as more info becomes available.

- The Game is a half-hour comedy starring Tia Mowry, Wendy Robinson, and Pooch Hall. It orginated as a spinoff of the hit TV show Girlfriends. The Game just wrapped up its third season.

XOXO...New addition to the Gossip Girl Cast...

So apparently, Hillary Duff will be added to the CW's hit show "Gossip Girl". You may remember Hillary from Disney's "Lizzie McGuire" or her album OR her frangrance. This is an interesting move for the CW. Hillary hasn't really done to much prime-time drama, so this will be something to watch. The CW already had Michelle Tratchenberg from Ice Princess, and she does a solid job with her character. I'm interested to see how Hillary meshes with the rest of the cast like Blake & Leighton...or even Penn. [<--Random right?]

Update:
So Hillary will play "Dan's" love interest...Hillary will be a movie star who transfers in to NYU, rooms with "Vanessa" and gets the affection of "Dan", however, "Dan" won't know that she's famous...and the plot thickens. This just makes me EXTRA curious as to how she will mesh with the rest of the cast. I'll say this...Gossip Girl sure knows how to maintain an audience...

"Bruno" is it worth the ticket price?

Next week the much anticipated movie Bruno hits theaters. Strangely, its not getting the reviews as Borat did, which has me wondering will it be worth the movie ticket. OF COURSE I'm going to see it anyway [I survived Hannah Montana]...but like most of you, I'm sure you're expecting to leave the theater in tears from all the laughing you expect to be doing. According to a Variety reporter, the movie "Bruno" seemed to have a lot of staged sequences and is not at all "PC". What do you guys think?

Here's the link for more on the film.

"Word on the Street" Wednesday

Happy JULY folks!!!! Word on the Street Wednesdays gives you a rundown of music that should be in your life right about now... first up, Jeremih's new album.

This album is FIYAH. Every song is a hit, which you can't say about a lot of people's albums, even people firmly in the game. The album is available on Amazon.com, iTunes, and in stores everywhere. Def. a banger for your ride. My fav. songs are Raindrops, Imma Star, Jumpin, and the Birthday Sex techno remix. I kid you not, this album is sikkkk....so go get it. I think I'm just really impressed by the single to album turn around from Jeremih and how veteran he sounds. I forsee a bright future in his career.
